Hannah Here

Hi everyone, I thought I would give this blogging a try.  Well, I'm growing up fast as you can tell.  Mommy and Daddy says I'm a "chunky monkey"  but I really can't help it.  I'm growing out of my newborn clothes and into 0-3 months!  I have so many outfits to choose from.  Mommy likes to dress me up, but I like to be in my pajamas the most (they have the feet in them so I stay warm and cozy.)  

Bad news...I'm going bald.  We've worked with different hairstyles to hide the receding hair line but it's pretty obvious.  They tell me it will grow back....hopefully sooner than later.

I really like living here with Mom and Dad. Mommy takes me on walks in the mornings, Daddy plays airplane with me, it usually puts me to sleep or calms me down.  I love it when they give me baths, it's my favorite part of the day.  One thing that bothers me is when I wake up and they're staring at me.  It's kind of creepy, I mean get a life people, I'm just laying here.  They stare at me a lot but sometimes I like it, especially when they talk to me.  This week I decided to start smiling at them since they're trying so hard.  I think it makes them feel special.  :)

Well, time to eat, play with mommy, and take a nap.  Life is good!

Tummy time, 

This is when I exercise my neck muscles and try to lift my head with my arms.  It's pretty hard but I'm getting better at it.

Being burped by mommy.  She says my little face was too cute and she had to take a picture of it.  "Hello?!  I'm trying to burp here, save the pictures for later."

This is me playing airplane or super woman.  Apparently I fell asleep.  Daddy is good at calming me down before bedtime.

A visit from the grandparents

On Sunday, Jim and Debbie came to visit and stay the night with us and little Hannah.   We went on a drive and out to dinner, it was Hannah's first real restaurant experience.  Matt and I have only been brave enough to take to fast food joints, where we can exit quickly if needed.  She slept all through dinner so it worked out fine.  They witnessed her first pacifier experience.  Matt and I have been reluctant to give her one but we decided to get one for emergency situations, basically for  when we're in public and she gets fussy on us.  So we tried it and she seemed to like it.  So we know it will work when the time comes.  I don't really think it's a cute accessory for her pretty face but we have some pictures of it.

Matt and I caught her trying to find her thumb to suck on and it's so cute to watch.  She's so smart, she would look at her thumb and then would stick her hand to her mouth but it just didn't get in the right spot.  

I took her again to the grocery store yesterday in the sling.  This time I let her sit up a little bit so she could look around if she wanted.  She was awake for the first 10 minutes and was so alert to everything.  I was talking to this elderly man who wanted to know "what I had in there"-the sling- and while I was talking she just looked up and stared at me the whole time.  It was really sweet.  I think she's starting to recognize our voices from other people's voices.  Matt can get her attention more quickly than I can, I think because his voice is louder and deeper than mine...or maybe she just likes her Daddy better.

She'll be a month old tomorrow, I can't believe it!!

3 weeks old

Sorry for the delay in blogging, I'm still trying to get the hang of being a mom :) .  Matt and I are feeling more confident in taking care of little Hannah.  We are getting to know her different cries and how to soothe her etc.  She is becoming more alert, moving her little hands around and focusing on our faces, and is sleeping good at night.  We gave her her first bath this weekend after her stump fell off and she LOVES it!  It's so fun to watch her expressions.  We are still waiting for that first laugh and smile.  She smiles and does a little cackle in her sleep sometimes but not while she's awake.  She is precious!!

Hannah inside the sling I carry her with while I do things around the house.  I used it on our first outing to the grocery store and she stayed asleep until we got to the check out.  It's supposed to simulate the womb and it keeps her close to you which she likes.  Convenient for mommy too.

My mom is armed with baby pictures, if you see her please go the other way, fast!  She has already caught some of you and for that I apologize. 

Thank you for the sweet remarks about our Hannah.  We are so thankful to have a healthy, sweet, and happy baby girl.  Today is my first day at home alone with her.  It was a little overwhelming to start of the day but things have settled down.  I have already been spit up on, peed on, and gone through 7 diaper changes...I feel like a real mom!  Time for a shower and a nap!
