I'm 3 months old!!

Hi bloggy people, Hannah here.

I'm 3 months old now, can you believe it?! My life has gone by pretty fast so far. Lately, I've been exploring more of the world around me. Mom and Dad used to put me in these little chairs made for babies, but I don't want to just lay around all the time anymore. I'm trying to sit up but I'm still very wobbly. Mommy has to hold on to me but it's fun to practice. I'm sleeping a little better. I have one 5-6 hour stretch at night and then I eat and go back to sleep for another 3-4 hours. I like to smile and goo and coo a lot, but not when they put cameras in front of me. It makes me nervous, I can't perform that way. As you can see I have a full head of hair now....but only from the front. I've tried to keep it a secret but there's no denying it, i've got issues going on with the back of my head, it's not pretty.

blurry, but you get the idea

Things I like right now are my crib mobile, my hands, and my feet. All these things keep me pretty occupied. I like to feel everything with my hands and I try to put stuff in my mouth too but Mommy and Daddy don't always let me. I still love them though :) Hope to see you soon. Love, Hannah

We could not get her to stay still for this picture and of course no smile...

just kidding

Well that last post was mostly a joke. Matt thought I was crazy and so did mom, and after some sleep I think it was a crazy idea too.

What I'm considering...

Well our 3 month supply of diapers served us well and now it's time to start buying diapers on a weekly basis. Finding the best deal on Pampers and using coupons shouldn't be a problem, but wouldn't it be nice if I didn't have to use them at all?!?! I mean what do people in other areas of the world do when they have limited resources? Well, I came across this idea and it may be worth a try. "Elimination Communication" is listening to your baby and training them to communicate when they need to pee or poo.

I had initially thought I would do cloth diapering since I was staying at home and would have some extra time on my hands. Well that idea flew out the window when I saw how messy it can be in a disposable diaper. I really don't want to deal with it further than throwing it in the trash. So today I found the perfect solution! Just train Hannah to use the potty sooner, it seemed to work for these folks. Check it out.

I haven't mentioned it to Matt yet, so i'll wait and see what he thinks about it. It might be worth a try or maybe I'm silly from lack of sleep and need to take a nap....

More Pictures

Here are some pictures mom had on her camera from their last visit here. She caught some of Hannah's big smiles

Big eyes!

Not sure what Hannah is doing with her fingers in this picture?
Yay!

The sweetest voice

Hannah has found her little voice and she likes to hear herself use it! It took her a while to start cooing and gooing but now that she does, she loves it. I try to mimic her sounds back to her and she gets a kick out of it. This weekend we went into Maryville,(Matt was going to the UT game) and mom really got Hannah going. I bet they had a ten minute conversation. On the ride back home she started talking to herself in the backseat and some mornings I hear her talking when she wakes up. This morning she was talking and I went in to get her and she had the biggest smile on her face, it was a great way to start our day. :) We love to smile around here.

I tried to capture some of it on video but of course she wouldn't coo as much after I went to get the camera...here's what I did get:

'Nilla Wafers....homemade!

In an effort to be more frugal, I decided to try to make one of our favorite snacks from the grocery store... vanilla wafers. I found a recipe online and they are super yummy. They don't taste exactly like the real deal (they're a little thinner and more crispy) but they are almost better. Then mom suggested I take it a step further and use them in her homemade banana pudding recipe. Well, I just made it and it looks delicious!! I'm waiting until Matt gets home to dig in.

Homemade Vanilla Wafers

1 1/3 cup flour
8tbsp. butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg white
1 tbsp. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Preheat 350. Cream butter, sugar, and salt together. Add egg, vanilla, and milk. Sift in flour and baking powder. Stir until combined. Spoon 1/2 tsp. size balls onto cookie sheet. Bake about 12 min. If tops are not brown, I turn the broiler on for a minute or two until they look golden brown.

Mom's Banana Pudding

2/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. corn starch
2 cups milk
3 egg yolks
2 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Stir milk, sugar, and cornstarch over medium until it starts to thicken. Temper the egg yolks (add a spoonful of the hot mixture to the egg yolks and stir until the eggs are at the same temp as the pot, that way they don't turn into scrambled eggs) Cook for 5 minutes longer. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Cool. Layer wafers, pudding, bananas . Crumble wafers on top for special effects :) haha. ENJOY!!

...now if I could only find a recipe for Goldfish and Lance Peanut butter crackers.

Helping Mommy around the house

Facing outward in the sling is new for Hannah. Since she's holding her head up better I tried it today and she loved it! We vacuumed and cut vegetables....just kidding about the vegetables. (no knives are used while using the sling). I'm hoping I can position her this way for the grocery store in the near future. Right now she likes to look around for a while and then sleep so I face her towards me. It wasn't too long ago that she was so little you couldn't even see that she was in there...

(sorry for the blur, I couldn't get a steady shot)

What's Up Dudes ?!

I got some new shades and I feel good! I can see the world outside much clearer without the sun in my eyes. I've been keeping mom busy by changing my schedule around each day. I like to keep things interesting, routines are boring! She says I'll be happier if I have a routine but I'm not so sure. I keep myself busy during the daytime cooing and gurgling at mom and dad, they seem to love it. I'm also trying to stand up, but they won't let me for very long, they say it's too soon and it will cause me to have bowed legs?

Anyway...this past weekend mommy's parents Moppy and Poppy, as we call them, came to see me. They played with me, and took me out to lunch and dinner, gave me baths, went shopping and we even went to church for the first time. The music was a little loud, but I enjoyed it for the most part. The sermon was deep, I'm still thinking about it. I haven't experienced many things so I can't relate the sermons to my own life just yet. They have a nursery at church but Mommy's still too attached to let me go, she says I'm still too little.

Well, this has been an overload of information, time to nap. Enjoy the pictures below. :)
