We're headed to the beach...

..We're leaving tomorrow for a week in North Myrtle!! Mom and Dad are flying up on Sunday (they bought cheap tickets and it's only a one hour flight from Knox.!!) We are all so excited, Hannah doesn't know what's coming, but I think she will love it! We've been working on her swimming skills this week so she can swim in open water...jk :) But she did leave her sunglasses on while we were walking to and from the pool so it's a good sign that she's ready to be a beach bum for a week. See ya when we get back! Hope to have lots of good pictures

Videos

Here are a two videos. One was taken about 6 weeks ago when Hannah first started walking with the Lion...on this particular day she walked back and forth for almost 45 minutes until she was sweaty!! haha She still walks with the lion, but now she prefers to scale the walls and the furniture until she reaches her destination. She is a good walker, she just needs the confidence to let go and walk on her own.

The second video I took this morning. She was "beat boxing?" trying to make a new sounds, but I turned the video on too late... but you can still hear her say "cheese" or "chzz"

Our favorite book at the moment....

...Mr. Brown Can Moo Can You??

Please read this mommy!!

Matt and I have this book memorized, and if we start to say the words, Hannah will go find the book. She's been trying to make some of the sounds herself. She'll say "bop bop bop" over and over....so cute and fun to see her learning.

Words

This week has been really low key. Hannah and Matt have been a little sickly all week with a cold and then we discovered Hannah also has two teeth coming in so we've been chillin' at home most of the week. These two teeth, so far, have not given her as much trouble as the last two...thank goodness! I have been a little quiet this week and in a thoughtful mood so I really didn't know what to blog about until now.

I'm not one to hold onto too many things. I like to purge once every few months, but there are a few items that I am attached to, besides Hannah's baby clothes ;) As long as I can remember I cannot throw away a card that someone has given me, I just can't do it! So I found my stash hiding in the back of the closet this week and decided to read every one of them. Matt thought I was crazy as I sat on the couch one night with a stack of cards, but it was fun! Written word is definitely one of my love languages, I guess I like having something tangible to feel and read and remember. So there I was re-reading all these cards. Lots of them were simple birthday cards, some moving away cards, wedding cards, notes and cute poems from Matt (he's really good at writing poems when he wants to) AND then the majority of the cards were from college....the one's Mom sent me weekly. I had forgotten all the little notes and packages she had sent while I was in college. Every week I knew I could expect something from her...sometimes I even had a following with me to my PO box to see what she had sent. She might of been a little over the top and missed me a lot, but I'm so thankful I have those notes to look back and read. It's a good reminder of how I need to write notes to Matt and Hannah so they can look back on them one day. I don't mean writting cheesy lovey dovey stuff (that is okay too), but more fun or silly things is fun to re-read later on. So if you send me a card, know that I will read it and keep it and cherish it because I'm weird like that.

this note (above) was from high school....apparently mom and I had had an argument and she was writing me one of those "cool" letters to apologize and also set me straight in a sweet way:) I'm sure I needed it!

We miss everyone and just so you know you're on our minds....we keep you on the fridge where Hannah can see you everyday. We're adding to the pictures....for other family and friends who are not yet on there (just have to get more of the magnet protecters) She takes each one of every morning and shows them to me....so sweet and she makes a barking noise when she's picks up Kasper's picture....and Stefan's too so we're working with her on that....haha :)

I had just cleaned Hannah's car seat and she wanted to sit in it...I think she's about ready for a big girl car seat!

Time to watch a movie with Matt! :)

Peaches and Kittens

Last week at the farmer's market, I decided to buy a half-bushel of peaches because they were sooo delicious! I planned on making peach preserves with them, and IF I had any left I would make something else. Well...I made a batch of preserves and this is the picture of how many peaches were still left afterwards!! I don't know what I was thinking, but needless to say I had a lot left over. So, we've grilled them (which we were not big fans of), ate them fresh (Hannah loves them), and I peeled and froze a gallon freezer bag full and we still have about 6 left to eat! I'm thinking of trying some peach ice cream, and maybe something else....any suggestions?

Besides going peach crazy, Hannah made some friends with some stray kittens this morning and they played through the window for almost an hour. She discovered them after we finished breakfast and was still in her PJ's. Hannah made some lion and doggy noises (right now she thinks most animals bark) and banged the window, but it never scared them enough to run away. So I'm glad they had fun, but I hope we haven't started something with these kittens. It's the second litter in the last two months that we've had in our back woods. I don't want to call the pound, but for the kitty's sake I think we may have to.

We also joined a new Gym that j recently opened less than 5 minutes from our house. We did this for a variety of reasons. #1 It's something Matt and I can go and have fun together while getting in shape. #2 Walking through the neighborhood with Hannah wasn't enough to help me meet my goal of being a body builder...jk but I do need some weight training! #3 It's a good way for Hannah and I to make some friends. Yesterday I left Hannah in the KidsCare for the first time and she loved it. I was so surprised. I went to pick her up about an hour later and she was doing laps around this kiddie table (while holding on) and watching the older kids play. Then we walked out of kidscare, then walked out of the gym doors, and THEN she started crying and lunging for the doors to go back inside!!! I couldn't believe it, she had that much fun. She got over it quickly, but it's good to know that she will enjoy being there while we're working out!

This is how much was left over after I made preserves...

a little blurry but as you can see Hannah enjoyed the peaches too!

I gave up on the pigtails and went straight for the unicorn look :)

The many hats of Hannah

Normally Hannah will not keep a hat on her head for very long, but while in TN, mom, stefan and I went to Tarjay and Stefan decided to let Hannah model some hats. She just sat there and let us dress her up, bless her little heart. I think I may have to go back and get the scarf she's modeling, the more I see it the more I like it!

My Favorite!

Let's go to the shore, shall we?

Girls Road trip

Hannah and I had our first road trip, just the two of us, to TN last week. Matt was working 2nd shift last week and we normally don't see much of him on those days so we decided to take a road trip to see the fam. I was a little nervous about driving to Maryville by myself, but Hannah did really good overall. I had to stop and pee on the way there, and I had my first experience of peeing while holding a baby (I didn't want to unpack the stroller just to go in and pee)...it wasn't as hard as I thought, until I realized the stall was out of toilet paper! So we sat there and Hannah pointed (didn't touch) at all the shiny things in the stall while I drip dried...YIKES that may be TMI but it happened. So anyway we made it and had a really fun week. Stefan and I got to hang quite a bit, we shopped, played tennis, and ate yummy food! He's more of a shopper than I used to be (I think), and a really good cook(kind of fancy for my taste, but good none the less)!! Mom kept me up later than I'm used to, but we had fun spending some extra time together, we cleaned out all my old stuff in my closet one night and found all kinds of funny things. Like an old diary and when we finally unlocked it, I had tore out the pages I had written on! I wish I had kept those, must have been some juicy stuff, haha. We also tried to do a (late one year) photo shoot of Hannah in the backyard with an antique buggy mom had, but it started to rain and Hannah was going crazy in the grass so it was cut short. I did get a few okay shots, but I will have to try again.

On thursday we drove to Mamaw's to break the trip back up a little bit and we took Hannah to the farm to see the cows. She made her "oof oof" sound for doggy at the cows, so I guess she thinks they're big dogs? She has no fear of any animal at this point. I love pictures of farm stuff, I guess it's my way of dreaming about living on a farm one day (if that day ever comes).

When we made it back to SC, Matt had Friday off, and a co-worker had given him free passes to the SC State Museum so I told him we had to go. It was something to do, but it would be better for elementary aged kids. Hannah liked looking at everything even though she didn't know what it was. I couldn't get Matt to nicely pose for picture and when he finally did, he put bunny ears on Hannah...*sigh* ;)
