First Dr. Visit

See my bandage from my first shot...ouch!

Hannah had her first official outing and Dr. visit today.  The doc gave her a good report.  She had gained 4 oz., which made me feel so great...I had been worried she wasn't getting enough food, it's hard to tell.  Her jaundice was gone and she is measuring 50 percentile in weight and height.  Dr. Claytor said she was great!  We go back in 2 weeks.

She is eating and sleeping like a champ, OH and pooping like one too.  You wouldn't believe how much her little body can produce...Matt and I are getting a kick out of it.  We gave her her first sponge bath last night.  She was a little fussy but she did well.  We're going to try to get some video on here in the next week or so.  Matt is really doing a great job taking care of us girls.  I'm really going to miss him next week when he goes back to work.  But mom will be here to help take care and feed all of us...I'm guessing she's going to be holding Hannah a lot too.  Hannah is the perfect snuggler :)

Sorry for the delay in posting some pictures of Hannah.  We're on a "babymoon" with our new love, Hannah.  The days are going by so fast.  I really don't know how to put into words all that we are feeling, we love her soooo much!  Here are some pictures for now.  Back to sleep.... :)

(they didn't post in the order I planned but no time for editting)

First car ride, the car seat just swallowed her, but she slept peacefully the whole way home.
Sleeping, trying to wake up
Yawning...
Sweetly sleeping :)
Pouting a bit
Leslie, Debbie, and Jim with Hannah
Dad, Mom and Stefan with Hannah
Daddy's first time holding Hannah
I'm a little tired (or a lot) and she's a lot awake here
During the first stage of labor, in between contractions, with Matt and my Doula, Violet.  I'm sitting on a "birthing ball" same thing as a big bouncy ball you can do exercises on.

Thank you for all the sweet emails and messages, they mean a lot.  I hope to get back to you all soon.  Love to all!!

Practice Run

Matt and I had a good practice run yesterday.  Since I had an appt. at the hospital, Matt came home from work early to take me, and we decided to go ahead and pack up everything in the car like it was the REAL DEAL.  Honestly, I got nervous taking everything with us, it made everything seem very real but it was exciting too.  Matt tried a different route to the hospital and it was a success, a lot less traffic.  So I'd say we're definitely ready to go when the time comes, it only took us about 10 minutes to pack what was left out of our bags and get it into the car, plus 30 minutes to the hospital.

As for Hannah, she is perfectly satisfied where she is right now.  We saw her on the ultrasound and she is practicing breathing and swallowing.  We actually saw her swallow, she pushes her little lips in and out like a fish, it was cute!!  We didn't see a clear image of her features because of her positioning and the lower amount of fluid in front of her face, so her sweet face will still be a surprise for us on her birthday.  Her reaction time was good and the amount of amniotic fluid was normal.  Her weight was estimated to be at 7.5 and her head measured at 38 weeks, so she has a little head (which will hopefully make delivering her a little easier).  She scored an 8 out of 8 (pretty good for her first test :) ) so that means she is free to stay longer and my health is good also so they won't induce until 41 weeks and 5 days, next Friday.  We will have a baby for sure by next Friday!  The midwife gave me a few unusual tips for inducing labor so we'll see if any of those work...I know God's timing is perfect and Hannah will come when she is ready.

I think Hannah would be the perfect gift for Matt on Father's Day, maybe the timing will work out that way :)

Still Waiting...

Well, due day has come and gone....and baby Hannah is still enjoying her time in the womb.  I have to say that I was a little disappointed yesterday.  I know most first-time moms go later, but I was just hoping the due day would be true.   Matt and I are about as ready as we can be at this point.  I read a random fact that 14% of women go into labor on Tuesdays and are least likely to give birth on the weekend.  So maybe tomorrow will be our day!?  We have an ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday, if I make it that long, to see how she's doing in there.  They'll check her weight, amount of amniotic fluid, and movement to see if she can stay in my belly a little longer and come on her own.  I'm praying that she will come on her own, I really don't want to be induced unless there is a serious reason to do so.

On a side note, Matt tried to teach me to drive a stick shift last night.  I thought it would be pretty easy to learn but it wasn't... at all!  He was very patient with me and I thought I had killed his truck.  So after some tears of frustration I gave up.  I was finally able to stop and go, but I killed the clutch pulling in the driveway.  He said I did "really good".... it was fun to try I suppose.

I plan on resting and walking the rest of today, I hope to have exciting news soon!

*Check out Stefan's blog, he just returned from Germany and has posted some pictures*

Waiting on baby Hannah...

No news yet.  Matt and I have been enjoying our last few weeks as a family of two, but we are looking forward to Hannah's arrival.  8 days to go and we are ready!  On Wednesday the midwife said that Hannah had "dropped" so she is getting ready to go too.  I'm in the process of packing our bags today just so we are ready in case things happen fast.  :)  I can definitely tell my body is getting ready for the delivery.

This is me and Hannah at 39 weeks

The past few weeks have been mostly relaxing.  My last day of work was last Friday and since then, I've been able to rest more and get a few things done around the house that I had been wanting to do.  It's made a huge difference in my mood and energy level.  I've been so happy not to be sitting in front of a computer all day that I've pretty much stayed away from our computer at home as much as possible, that explains the lack of blogging.

Mom came in this past week for a few days to help me with some things around the house and to have some girl time :)  We went shopping one day for some comfy clothes to wear after the baby comes and an outfit for the hospital for me and Hannah.  I found something for me and we found the perfect outfit for Hannah, but they didn't have the newborn size....so I'm still looking. If nothing else I can put her in a cute onesie for the trip home.

Mom and I also made some strawberry preserves...yum!  She sewed a curtain for our kitchen and you'll never guess where I got the material for the curtains....it came from a skirt I found at Goodwill.  I saw the print and just thought it would make a perfect curtain, so walla!  We had a good time as usual and stayed busy.  I'm looking forward to spending time with her and Hannah together, she's going to be a great Mimi.  :)
